This year’s comprehensive ranking list includes 1662 universities, compared to 1527 universities last year. 35 Indian universities, the second largest in the country, rank among the top 1000. The IIT-Roper (Band 351-400) ranks second over India by last year, joining the JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research 351-400 Band chart. IIT-Indore ranks fourth between 401 and 500.

Significantly, seven first-generation Indian technology companies, including Delhi, Bombay, Kharagpur and Madras, opted not to participate in the global ranking last year because of a lack of data diversity and transparency. Higher Education, which contacted all the non-participating IITs, has decided to speak with them to discuss their concerns, but they have again decided not to participate in the ranking this year. We believe that the absence of IITs is detrimental to the improvement of individual institutions and to India’s position and appearance on a world scale.
