Understand the New Testament
The Finance Ministry has set new rates of GST for various categories. It is effective from 1 January 2022. Under this, food delivery e-commerce operators now have to pay 5% GST on the distribution of food from registered and unregistered restaurants. These companies are not given input tax credit (ITC). It is important to understand here that so far companies like Zomato and Swiggy are registered as Original Tax Collectors (TCS). That is, they are able to collect TCS by submitting GSTR-8, but it will be closed from now on.
