The General Admission Test (CAT) is a national level examination conducted by the Indian Level Management Agency (IIM). It is a compulsory test for admission to IIMs or other reputed business schools such as Faculty of Management Studies (Delhi), Shailesh J Mehta School of Management (Mumbai), SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (Mumbai). The CAT exam is conducted in the last week of November each year. This year CAT 2021 will be held on 28 November 2021.
More than half of the candidates who attend the CAT exam come from an engineering background, which makes the competition tough. Engineers excel in the quantitative capacity category because engineers are generally better at math. The main challenge for engineers is verbal ability and reading comprehension, followed by data interpretation and logical reasoning. The main focus of such candidates for success in the CAT must be on these disciplines.
So here we are giving you some important suggestions that candidates must pass the CAT exam.
1-Verbal ability and reading comprehension section ( VARC) Work hard for the division
The VARC section was difficult for engineering students because they did not pay much attention to English as a subject during graduation. But, if studied well, this section will not haunt anyone with an engineering background. So put a little extra effort into this section.
2-Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) ) Draft the section
There is only one way to earn good marks in this category and to practice it as much as possible. This section can be easily solved using a variety of techniques. When you know when and where to use these techniques, you will be able to solve more and more problems. Once you know the technique of solving the questions, this section becomes much easier.
3- Improve your calculations
Calculation is a very important factor to solve the quantitative section. Improve your accuracy and try to get the right answer on the first try to save maximum time. Instead of using a virtual calculator, practice solving mentally. If you practice this section vigorously, you will soon find a difference in your calculations.
4- Get complete information about all sections
You should have a maximum idea of all the sections. Make sure you know the number of questions in each section, the points assigned to the section, the topics covered in the section, the identity plan, etc. Knowing all this will make the next process easier.
5- Clear concept is very important
You get into trouble because of testing confusion. Candidates should focus on the concepts and understand them well. It is not okay to choose a mug-up strategy. If you clarify the concepts you will remember them for a long time.
6-Focus on your practice as much as possible
Regardless of how good or bad you are at things, one thing that makes you good at CAT is regular practice. You need to practice the questions regularly. Purchase lots of practice equipment and make sure you have solved the maximum part of it. Make sure your maximum ideas are clear. Routine practice helps a lot. Solve previous years question papers, sample papers and mock tests.
7- Don’t start preparing at the last minute
Start studying well in advance. By doing this, you will be able to easily study without any hassle and be able to understand all the techniques, concepts and cover all things well. After this you will have time for revision. On the other hand, if you start preparing at the last minute you will not have the opportunity to cover the entire course. In a few days you will have to complete the entire syllabus so that you can get confused during the exam.
