According to the latest data from the Indian Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRAI), the Indian telecom market presented an interesting picture in May, with Bharti Airtel losing 46.13 lakh mobile service customers. At the same time, its rival Reliance Jio has increased its subscriber base to 35.54 lakh. Overall, the Indian mobile market saw a decline of 62.7 lakh users in May.
Airtel has lost many customers
At the same time, Jio has added 35.54 lakh mobile users, increasing its subscriber base to 4312 million. In May, both Airtel and Vodafone-Idea lost large numbers of customers. According to data released by TRAI in May, Airtel lost 46.13 lakh mobile users and its subscriber base dropped to 348 million.
Vodafone-Idea lost many customers
Moreover, Vodafone Idea’s mobile subscriber base decreased by 42.8 lakh users. Since then its number of users has dropped to 277 million. India’s total mobile subscriber base declined by 62.7 lakh with the number of mobile phone subscribers falling to 1176 million between the second wave of Kovid-19 in the country.
